The Dappled Webcap is mycorrhizal with hardwood trees, almost exclusively Beech trees but occasionally it is found under Oaks as well. It fruits from late summer to early winter. It’s predominantly found in Britain and Ireland, but has also been spotted in Europe and North America. The generic name Cortinarius is a reference to the partial veil or cortina (meaning a curtain) that covers the gills when caps are immature. In the genus Cortinarius most species produce partial veils in the form of a fine web of radial fibres connecting the stem to the rim of the cap; remnants of the veil often adhere to the stem and become apparent when ripe spores fall onto them.
This one-of-a-kind, handmade mushroom hook will add a dash of whimsy and cottagecore vibes to any home. Each mushroom is lovingly crafted by hand, and coated in a thin layer of resin to protect the paint, prevent yellowing, and strengthen the polymer clay to lessen the chance of breakage.
