Orange Mycena was named after a mushroom Thomas Gibson Lea who sent specimens to Berkeley for identification in the 1800s. This mushroom grows in dense clusters on deciduous longs, and the pigment responsible for its coloring has weak antibiotic properties and pronounced cytotoxic properties towards tumor cells. It also has mutagenic properties, meaning it can permanently change genetic material. These little guys are phenomenal fungi that are worth further study and may one day save many lives.
This one-of-a-kind, handmade mushroom hook will add a dash of whimsy and cottagecore vibes to any home. Each mushroom is lovingly crafted by hand, and coated in a thin layer of resin to protect the paint, prevent yellowing, and strengthen the polymer clay to lessen the chance of breakage.
